Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for thickening and clarifying process
- Access, interpret and apply thickening and clarifying process documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret clarify and confirm work requirements
- Coordinate and communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Select appropriate type of auxiliary equipment for work activities
- Perform equipment pre-start checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Use dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure area is well ventilated
- Start-up equipment in sequence
- Operate and monitor equipment
- Read and interpret data from equipment indicators to determine torque, bed characteristics, flow characteristics and reagent dosage
- Continuously inspect plant
- Control discharge of underflow/overflow agents to agreed operating parameters
- Direct underflow/overflow to alternate location according to work specifications
- Monitor performance of thickener to meet agreed operating parameters
- Complete all required written documentation concisely and on time
- Pass on shift changeover details to oncoming shift
- Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
- Conduct housekeeping activities
